Fall is finally here in Alabama!  Although it is pretty chilly outside today!  Yesterday I had on shorts and today it is sweatpants and sweatshirts.  It makes for a great day of football!
Here is the pumpkin applique on a girls t-shirt.  I love this pumpkin because it is perfect for the beginning of fall through Thanksgiving.  It is also great for a boy or a girl!

Here are a few shirts I did for a little boy  - Liam.  I love the turkey on the grey and the pumpkin of the orange!

Twirl and Cheer

Fall is in full swing and that means football!  I monogrammed a bunch of cheer bags.  Here are a few.  These are easy and quick to do!

My daughter is on a baton competition team.  I am the team mom.  So I decided to put together a goodie bag for each of the girls.  Here are the shirts I appliqued.  I also included the group roster, some baton caps, lip smackers and a some other goodies.

Aprons and Bags

Well, the kids are back in school:(  I was not ready for the school schedule, but I am adjusting.  It's not the getting up part that I don't like - I was up by 5:00 a.m. this summer with the puppies.  It is just the busy homework after school stuff schedule I dislike.  I miss being able to play outside until dark too!
Anyway, here are a few things I have worked on:  I did a huge stack of aprons for the workers at my church's consignment sale.  They were easy to do since they are flat, just a little long to stitch out.

Here is a bag I did for a friend.  She is going to use it as a gym bag.  I was hoping the orange would pop out, but it didn't.  It does look better up close.

Back to School

I can't believe that school will start soon!  We have had a great summer so far!    Someone recently emailed me about the chair pockets I made for my niece a few years ago.  You can read about them here:  http://daisydesigns-embroideryandappliques.blogspot.com/2010/08/back-to-school.html  If you are not familiar with chair pockets they are great for school!  I wish I had them when I taught 2nd grade.  They are super easy to make too!  I made these out of denim fabric so they would be heavy duty and wouldn't show pencil and crayon marks as bad.  I think they would be great with a cute applique or the teacher's name on them too:)
As many of you know, my daughter twirls the baton.  I found this cute applique and did this shirt for her.  I love (and she loves) the sparkle thread!
Here's an up close view.

I am still doing burp cloths for a group at my church.  The group of ladies make items for homeless shelters and Save a Life.  They are fun and easy to do and go toward a good cause so I don't mind doing these.
Around here we are looking forward to this!!!
While we have done lots of fun things this summer, taking care of these sweet things has been top of the list!

Summertime

It has been busy around here!  As I am sure it has been everywhere! We have had VBS, camps, gymnastics and baton.  As well as making time for the pool!

I have done a little work though.  I added this bee on a couple of outfits.  I had just the front to applique, which made it much easier!  Afterwards she was going to finish putting the outfits together.  I'll post the finish products - a john john for the boy and a jumper for the girl - if she sends me one.

This is a doll from Applique Chick.  It is so cute and easy to make - although there is a learning curve:)   For a limited time she offered it for free but asked you to send one to her for a mission project.  It would make a great baby gift for a little girl.  She also has a boy doll.
This is Vera Bradley tote bag I monogrammed as a graduation gift for my cousin's daughter.
Here is a beach towel that I did for my daughter.  I love the sparkly thread!  I did one for me too out of this thread!

Keeping Busy

Since school has been out it has been non stop around here!  This has nothing to do with monograms or embroidery but I thought I would post this.  This is my neice Lanie and her new husband Britt!  They got married last weekend.  It was a beautiful outdoor wedding. The weather was perfect:)

Here I am with my family.  My daughter was a junior bridesmaid and my son was an usher.  I almost cried when I saw him in a suit!  He has never worn a suit before.
Here are two cute little furry puppies that have kept us hoping since school was out.  They are 7 weeks old and just as cute as can be!  Bella is on the left and Cooper is in the container.

bibs, burps and summer

I did these a while back and couldn't remember if I had loaded them or not.  I did a bib, burp cloth and blanket for a friend in my Bible Study.

I posted earlier some items I did for a friend of my niece's that had a baby.  Here is a burp cloth and bib.  I absolutely love this crab!!

This is another summer favorite of mine!  I love this beach umbrella!

And you need flip flops to go with the umbrella!  I put these last summer on a cover up for my daughter.

Teacher Gifts

I don't know about you, but I am soooo ready for school to be out!!  My kids have 3 days left:)  I have done lots of teacher gifts.  I have tried to get them done and returned as soon as possible and haven't gotten pictures.  Here is part of the gifts for my kids' teachers.  I am putting together a summer fun bag.  This first picture is one of my favorite things!!  This is mine, I am picking up the ones for gifts this weekend.  It is a hugger that you put in the freezer.  The inside lining is made of water cubes that freeze.  Each teacher is getting one with a supply of their favorite drink.  I also have a bigger cooler like this that is great!  We take it to the pool, ballpark, park, beach everywhere!  It is great because you don't have to worry about ice melting or those freezer packs taking up space!

Beach towels are always a popular gift!  Who can't use another beach towel!  These are for kids' teachers.  I found these are Costco.  They are huge and super soft.
Market totes are also very popular for teacher gifts.  I have done some large and here is a small one.
OK, gotta go monogram and iPad case:)

bumble bee

Someone had requested a bumble bee.  Here are the two that I have.  The first one is all embroidered.  You could leave off the flowers if it were for a boy's outfit.

This one is an appliqué.  You can use any fabric to match the outfit.   When I get the outfits done.  I'll post them.

Baby Stuff

Wow!  I can't believe so much time has gone by!  When I started back in January, I was so ready to get back into sewing and monogramming.  If you have read earlier entries, you know last fall I was diagnosed with Epilepsy.  I have not had any seizures since the first one at the end of October.  But I have had a horrible time with the medication.  I just couldn't tolerate the side of effects, then had an allergic reaction to the second one I tried.  The third one was ok at a low dose.  I have been on the fourth one now for about 6 weeks.  I think I have finally found one that I can tolerate and feel good while taking.  Changing medicines isn't that easy.  You can't just stop taking one and start a new one.  You have to wean off of one while slowly introducing the new one.  It has been a long process!

Ok, enough of that, a friend of my neice recently had a baby.  I did a few things for her.  The pictures didn't turn out great, but here they are.
These next two I bought some simple onesies and bought an extra one to use for the burp cloth.  It is an easy way to take an inexpensive item and make it into a nice outfit!

Monograms

A good friend and neighbor of mine does monogramming too. She was working on a few things for someone else and her machine began to mess up. She called me and I finished them up for her. Here is a cute minky dot dress I added the monogram too. I love the green with the hot pink!

This is the one my friend was working on when her machine messed up. She did the flowers and the swirls. I went back and added the letter "E" in the middle.
This is a simple appliqué. The person she was doing these for brought her the fabric for the appliqué, so they must have pants to go with it. I love this fabric and this is one of my favorite letter appliqués!! I use it a lot.

National Champions!

This is my last post about football - at least until the fall! I grew up with Alabama Football engrained in me by my Dad. I have been going to games for as long as I can remember! So I had to post our victory!! We have season tickets and decided to order some to the championship game just in case we went. My husband met a long time friend and had a blast!

The kids and I stayed up (my daughter made it to the 4th quarter) and watched. Here's the kids this morning at my in-laws. They went to Academy Sports last night after the game and got their shirts and my son's hat. We stopped on the way to school to get them so they could wear them to school!

Baby gifts

Here are the items I did for a girl in my Bible Study group. She is having her third baby, her 2nd boy in a few weeks. So I did her a burp cloth, bib and a blanket. I couldn't decide on the blanket if I wanted to do the cross or an appliqué letter. So I did both on opposite ends. It turned out really cute!

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year!! I hope this post finds everyone well! I don't know about you, but I am sooo ready to get back to sewing and monogramming! One of my resolutions is to regularly blog and share what I am working on and hunt the blogs I follow for new ideas! So, if you have a blog, please respond or email me and send me the link!

The past 7 months have been tough for me, but are finally looking up! Short story - last month I was diagnosed with Epilepsy. It is a mild case but I am on daily medicine. I have only had one "real" seizure thank goodness. That was the end of October. The biggest relief is an answer to some "spells" I started having the end of May. I actually had these "spells" 16 years ago and then went into remission. These spells are "simple partial seizures". I am on Keppra and if you are on Keppra or you know anyone on Keppra feel free to email me! Luckily I had met someone who is now a good friend that is on it and it was a huge help having someone to ask questions and talk with while adjusting to the medicine.

Ok, enough of that, I'm off to work on a baby gift for a girl in my Bible Study group. I'll post pictures later.

Happy Monogramming:)
