One of those days

Thursday was just one of those days! You know the kind. Things went from bad to worse and I just wanted to go to bed and start over. The only problem was it was 1:00 in the afternoon and I still had carpool, homework, dinner to fix (we did order pizza) and take James to basketball practice.

It started with my trip to Starbucks that morning. I rarely treat myself to Starbucks, but did this day. I got home ready to drink my coffee and enjoy my breakfast sandwich and realized they gave me the wrong order! It went downhill quickly after that. Everything just seemed to take longer and was more difficult than it should have been.

OK, enough whining. Friday was a much much better day and very productive! Annamarye's teacher is expecting a boy in the spring. She found this Moses basket at a consignment sale. A friend of mine took the cover apart and remade it using the chocolate brown minke dot fabric. I did a quick bib for her to go with it. I had good intentions of making something else, but haven't gotten to it.
A few weeks ago I did a bunch of tissue holders for a friend's mom. 18 in all! They are very easy and quick to make.
Friday, I also did several scarves for someone.
Here is a pair of brown and white gingham pants I bought at the kids sale last week. I made this turkey shirt for Annamarye to go with them. I am going to make a reindeer shirt to go with the pants for Christmas.

Elephant Foot Print

I went to a kids clothing sale yesterday and got these pants for Annamarye. Had to get the hounds tooth print! I have some hounds tooth print fabric but it is a little bigger and didn't look right so I just used some black and white gingham. It is hard to see in the picture, but it looks really good together!
I'll be posting more soon!

Christmas

I LOVE this design!! It is really an applique, but I just did it without fabric behind it here to sample it. I am going to put this on a dress for Annamarye and either a sweatshirt or t-shirt for me! Maybe both! This is a great design for older girls too.

This is another favorite of mine and is great for older girls!

Reindeer

This is my all time favorite reindeer applique!! I just love it! Last year I used this one for boys and girls. For girls just add a bow.

This is a wonderful reindeer too, especially for older children.

Thanksgiving Turkey

OK, Halloween is over and time for turkeys! Here is a cute one I did yesterday on a couple of shirts for a lady's nieces. I will definitely be putting this on something for Annamarye! I am getting out Christmas stuff too! I can't wait!

Halloween Dress

I have done tons of towels with pumpkins and pumpkin faces the past 2 weeks! I have also done several of the witches shoes t-shirts. I am now working on some stuff for a friends Mom. I did find a few minutes to whip up this dress for Annamarye for Halloween.

More Pumpkins

Here's two more hand towels. I love the pumpkins on the brown towel! I used a satin stitch on the orange towel and I think I like it better than the zig zag finish.

Witch Shoes

Here's another "If the shoe fits..." shirts. I made me one yesterday - it is now in the wash because I wore it to the pumpkin patch today. Annamarye wanted one to match. I pulled out this Old Navy t-shirt I bought last year on clearance and whipped one up for her this afternoon. Thanks to my friend Lisa for the fabric!! I like this fabric combination much better than the one in my earlier post with the shoes.

A few towels

Here's a couple of hand towels I did recently. I bought the one on the left at JoAnn Fabrics a while back. I love this one because you can use it through Thanksgiving. The one on the right the color is off a little, but it turned out cute. The pumpkin face was a freebie from Planet Applique. I used the zig zag stitch. I also did one with a satin stitch and turned out cute too. But I gave that one away last night to our dinner guests and didn't get a picture. I am doing some more this afternoon and will post a picture. I wasn't sure how I would like these on the black towels, but they turned out cute and looked really good hanging up.

Baton Bag

My friend Lisa has jinxed me! LOL! The other day Lisa asked me about posting pictures and how some of hers have come out turned sideways. I suggested that she rotate them before posting and she said she does. I have never had any trouble until now!!! I had to keep this picture in here for her! I can't tell you how many times I have messed with it trying to get it turned correctly. Check out her blog here. If the link doesn't work it is listed on my blogs on the right. It is called Navyblue Momma.

This is a baton bag. Since I had to take it apart to monogram I decided to put something on both sides. Annamarye loves it!! My friend Lisa did one for her daughter too. Our girls are in the same class. I got the cute majorette designs from Lisa.

Welcome Fall

I am so glad for the cooler weather here in Alabama!! I can't believe the kids have been back to school for about 7 weeks now! I still haven't gotten into my routine yet and it is driving me crazy!

I ordered matching Christmas PJ's for Annamarye and me. I put our initials on them. Annamarye loves when we match. I am looking for some so Johnny and James can match.

Here's a couple of Halloween designs. I love this Trick or Treat and Smell my Feet!! Last year I did some shirts for twins - one had trick or treat and the other one had smell my feet. It was so cute. You could do front and back also.

Fall and Halloween

Since school has started back I have been busy working on some table skirts for a few of the teachers. Here are a couple fall and Halloween designs. I am hoping to finish the table skirts in the next few days. I have a long list of things to work on!

I really like this bat applique for older boys for Halloween. I added the words. You can also add a name is you wish.

I love this Frankstein head! Another great one for an older boy.

Tissue Holder and Fall

Last year I went to Christmas Village for the first time and bought some small tissue holders as gifts. I knew there had to be a pattern and a way to make them using my embroidery machine. It took a while, but I finally found a design!

They are so easy to make!! They are great small gifts and would be great stocking stuffers!
Candy Corn applique - great for Fall and Thanksgiving!

Pumpkin Applique - another one that is great for Fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving!

Hodge Podge

Here are a few others things I have done lately. I did this towel for a friend to give to her summer babysitter. I just love the pink and lime green!

I did these towels for my niece's new apartment.

I did this apron for my niece as well.

Back to School

I can't believe it is back to school time! Where has the summer gone?! My niece started her first year of teaching today! She is teaching 2ND grade in Tuscaloosa. The theme of the entire school this year is jungle. I made a few things for her classroom to help her get started!

She has two windows, so I made a simple green and white gingham valance for each one.

Right now this chair is in her apartment. It will soon be in her classroom, so I made this cushion.
I also made 22 of these chair pockets (chair backs). They were so easy to make! I found free directions online. I used a lightweight denim fabric so they would last and not show dirt. She has 17 children in her class right now, so that gives her a few extras.

Of course James and Annamarye wanted one after seeing Lanie's chair pockets. Here's what they picked out:

I have been working on some fall designs I will be posting later this week!

Hello to those who read! I hope you are having a wonderful summer! I have done a few things and have bought some great new designs for the fall and holidays. I just haven't had time to stitch them out! We are having a great summer and since things are slow right now, I am taking the month of July off. I will be back in August! Enjoy your summer!

Thinking ahead

Annamarye has a tank top dress that I put a flip flop applique at the bottom. She wants a beach ball on the top. Here's the sample I did. I haven't done hers yet, but I will post it when I do. Hopefully it will be this weekend!

I went to a sample sale and bought Annamarye a few things for the fall. I bought this for me! I added the "M" and now I'm ready for Bama Football!!
That got me thinking about Fall and Football. Here's a football applique and a pumpkin applique.

Hey everyone! I am still here! I ended up taking a short break from sewing and monogramming. I didn't mean too, it just ended up that way. We have been going non stop since school got out. Going to the pool, VBS, camps etc.. and I have just been enjoying being at home and hanging out with the kids. You can read about it here. We have a busy weekend, but after that I will be back posting! I have lots of stuff in my sewing room just calling my name!!

So check back next week for an update!

Beach Towels

Here's a couple of Vera Bradley beach towels I monogrammed for my sister and brother in law.
