Back to School

I can't believe that school will start soon!  We have had a great summer so far!    Someone recently emailed me about the chair pockets I made for my niece a few years ago.  You can read about them here:  http://daisydesigns-embroideryandappliques.blogspot.com/2010/08/back-to-school.html  If you are not familiar with chair pockets they are great for school!  I wish I had them when I taught 2nd grade.  They are super easy to make too!  I made these out of denim fabric so they would be heavy duty and wouldn't show pencil and crayon marks as bad.  I think they would be great with a cute applique or the teacher's name on them too:)
As many of you know, my daughter twirls the baton.  I found this cute applique and did this shirt for her.  I love (and she loves) the sparkle thread!
Here's an up close view.

I am still doing burp cloths for a group at my church.  The group of ladies make items for homeless shelters and Save a Life.  They are fun and easy to do and go toward a good cause so I don't mind doing these.
Around here we are looking forward to this!!!
While we have done lots of fun things this summer, taking care of these sweet things has been top of the list!

bibs, burps and summer

I did these a while back and couldn't remember if I had loaded them or not.  I did a bib, burp cloth and blanket for a friend in my Bible Study.

I posted earlier some items I did for a friend of my niece's that had a baby.  Here is a burp cloth and bib.  I absolutely love this crab!!

This is another summer favorite of mine!  I love this beach umbrella!

And you need flip flops to go with the umbrella!  I put these last summer on a cover up for my daughter.

Baby gifts

Here are the items I did for a girl in my Bible Study group. She is having her third baby, her 2nd boy in a few weeks. So I did her a burp cloth, bib and a blanket. I couldn't decide on the blanket if I wanted to do the cross or an appliqué letter. So I did both on opposite ends. It turned out really cute!

Cross Applique

This is a Monag t-shirt and pants. This cross applique is done with a zig zag stitch. It can also be done with a vintage stitch or satin stitch.
